It’s Getting Oh So Retro

Thanks to the latest toys releases we can now give our kids all the best bits of our own childhood.

The Power Rangers got the ball rolling with their Power Rangers Samurai toy range released early 2011. Because the license has gone back to the original owner, these new Might Morphin’s look just like the toys from 20 years ago.

Next up, and just out, are the new Thundercats toys for 2011 to accomoany the new Manga-style cartoon aired on Cartoon Network. The line up looks incredible and even if I didn’t have kids myself to use as an excuse, I would still be hot-footing it down to the toy store to stock up on these puppies. The Thundertank is the toy tipped to take off this Christmas, but I’ve got my eye on the role-playing stuff, like the Claw and the Sword of Omens – probably because when I was a kid I always wanted one but somehow kept missing out.

And if that’s not enough 1980s nostalgia for you, then hang fonto your hats – next year sees the return of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. If like me you can still name not only every turtle but also match them up with the color of their bandana and their respective weapons, it’s going to be a real treat.
