Our Concert Search

In Atlanta we stopped by the South side and were lucky enough to learn about the upcoming show at the Dome. So I did some quick searching and found both Keith Urban Tickets and Bon Jovi Tickets   for great prices and with great seats. I had an awesome time dancing and singing the chorus of all my favorite songs with the rest of the enthusiastic fans. Eventually, we got tired, but we did make some new friends and they gave us some leads on some other great to shows to try and hit up and hear some more new and exciting music.

The Kenny Chesney Tickets   were sold out. But we didnt immediately give up on attending that show. We figured if we looked online hard enough we could find someone or some site that offered them. We did find the tickets available but decided to go splurge and bought the only pair of Dave Matthews Band Tickets   that we could find anywhere.

It was really a great show, It reminded me of the years I followed Rush and it gave me a hankering to start my search for Rush concert Tickets

I did find the Rush Tickets and I was very happy to finally find what I had been looking for going to all those shows. I found the side of myself that enjoyed music and life.

Until, next time, keep on trucking readers!

Should I Buy a Survival Guide?

I just got an email about survival. It was an advertisement for a survival guide. For around $100, this guy would give me list of survival foods I would need to buy and store in order for me and my family to survive in case of some catastrophe. Give me a break! I think between my husband and me, we could figure out which survival foods we’d need, without paying someone a hundred bucks to tell us.

I’m not saying that all survival guides are a waste of money. I’m sure technical guides that explain solar power or wind power, medical guides that describe first aid techniques, and perhaps gardening guides would all be useful in emergencies, or when you’re preparing in case of a dire emergency. I get that, but to pay for someone to tell me what survival foods to buy? I don’t think so.

I mean, isn’t it pretty much a no-brainer? You can easily search online and find out how many calories you need per day, along with information on how many grams of protein, fat, and carbohydrates you’d need in a day to stay healthy. You can also find plenty of free information about vitamins and minerals. If I were that worried about survival, I’d spend $100 on survival foods instead of on that list.

Networking in the Music Business

I think outsiders would be surprised about how much is achieved in the Music Industry through good old fashioned networking. Lots of big breaks and sweetheart deals are made with a handshake by executives who arent easily impressed.

Watching shows on TV like Entourage, people will often think that Hollywood and the Music industry is just being dramaticized, but in fact, these shows are nearly documentaries into how the industry actually spins and churns.

Keeping up appearances, showing up to the right parties and having just the right friends goes very far in this industry. Knowing when to send the perfect business gifts is an  art either your or your agent must master.

Sending off the occassional gift for some head honchoes special occassion will rarely be noticed, but its the minimum one must do in order to stay in memory and be seen as a good team player.

I like to treat my business gift selections with the same care I select my Valentines Day gifts. I pay attention to the known tastes of the recipeient and I try to show off my attention to detail and consideration for their personal tastes. Never anything to bland or normal but I still stay away from exotic and often select tried and true old fashioned candies and chocolates or other gourmet delicacies.

Poolside at Night

Watching the fire dwindle out in the cabana that Saturday night was the perfect close to a stressful week.  It was our first night at the new house. Our tired collection of movers joked in contentment. Their bellies were full of local wines and gas station pizza.

The pool came with the house. It was an above ground pool with an old 70′s style attached deck. The past owners had done substantial earthscaping and had created a raised steppe lawn that continued the shape of the pool across the horizon. Likely, from the sky, the yard appeared as if was an Atzec design or a Pop Art bullseye.

Blues was playing across the speaker rocks. They hummed and bopped with T-Bone Walker. It was magical and a welcome change from our old hums. The hums of car engines and the bops from passing sound systems.

My blue ipod sat on the swimming pool covers stacked neatly in the shed. We were looking forward to converting the shed into a changing room and summer home for our family rabbit. But for now it served as the perfect location for our pool supplies. The fountain, chemicals, liner repair tools (already needed!) and various implements that made our home ownership finally seem so real.

Transformers Movie Toys Rock

Have you seen the latest range of Transformers Dark of the Moon toys? They rock. You couldn’t get an Optimus Prime like that back in my day {{{sigh – I am soooo old}}}. Kids don’t know how good they’ve got it. Back in the 1980s all we had was a ropey Transformers cartoon and a couple of Transformers robots that may turn into vehicles, but more likely would just fall apart, never to return to one whole piece again.

And its not just the action figures that have got better – there are some wicked masks and even an Optimus Prime Nerf-style gun, so you can run around the house, leaping out on the kids, pretending to be an Autobot.

I’m beginning to wonder if more thought goes into the toys than the movie now. I’m sure there’s a couple of battle scenes inserted into the movie simply because they make a good background for a video game.

I’m not complaining though. If all these toys and video games had been around when I was a kid, I still wouldn’t have been able to play with them as we didn’t have two pennies to run together. Now my money’s my own, so once I’ve splashed out on movie tickets and popcorn, I can spend what’s left on cool movie toys.

Investing for Retirement

Investing for Retirement proposes a difficult problem for first time investors without a dedicated broker or money manager.  To invest wisely one must have a solid understanding of your investment goals and capabilities. Any investing includes an inherant risk and often a substantial gain if those risks are taken wisely. When using an online service for retirement investing it is important to have a solid understanding of the markets and portfolios you are taking part in.

A solid plan for investing involves staying very diverse. Markets sway, but if ones portfolio covers various global markets, commodities and stocks, often one can stay secure against smaller hiccups that only effects one segment of a market.

This strategy is easy to implement using their online portfolio manager that includes portfolio rebalancing software for a true do it yourself portfolio management experience.

You can also take part in a simple subscription based service that will keep you up to date with changes in the market and possible opportunities and effects on your portfolio. Getting my motorcycle legs

Guest post written by Antonio Benton

Well, I’m a recent motorcycle owner and I don’t think I could be any more excited. I’ve dreamed of having a motorcycle for such a long time and saved up my money to treat myself with one. Now I’m just trying to get used to it. I already got my license and am busy buying gear so that I can be completely set for riding anywhere I want on my bike.

I don’t have that many friends who own motorcycles, although I hope that more of them will get them so we can ride together. So I’ve been going online for all of my motorcycle information. A few nights I was online looking up motorcycle information and while I was doing that I found some www.get.wildblue.com/. I read some information about them and after a little bit of time, I decided to sing up for one of those rates for my home internet service.

While I was browsing around online, I found some really good motorcycle riding tips. My wife has been so worried about my safety while riding, so I’m staying aware of that to appease her worries.

Best Southern Food

Are you a fan of great southern food? If so, what’s your favorite southern food? I’m often asked that question because most people know me as a traditional southern cook. In answer to the question at hand, there’s no way that I could name just one southern food. There are just too many of them from which to choose!

I will mention a few, however. In the meat category, I’d have to say that southern fried chicken is one of my all-time favorites. Fried pork chops would be a close second. I can’t overlook good ole southern barbecue, either. I love pulled pork that’s been slow smoked over wood coals. Add barbecue ribs and barbecue chicken to that list. And seafood. Don’t forget about fresh southern seafood – fried shrimp, fried fish, boiled shrimp, grilled scallops, grilled fish, steamed blue crabs, stone crab claws, crab cakes, roasted oysters, fried oysters…

Now, it’s on to the vegetables, which we grow a lot of down here. I love sweet corn and sweet potatoes. I know – they’re not actually vegetables. Which reminds me – southern grown tomatoes are awesome, too. I also like butter beans, fried squash, steamed squash, ford hooks, zipper peas, broccoli, cauliflower, onions, eggplant and zucchini. I wouldn’t be a true southerner if I didn’t mention greens here: mustard greens, turnip greens, and collard greens.

Quick and Easy American Recipes for Chicken

Some American recipes are difficult to make and take a long time to go from the preparation work to the table. On the other hand, there are plenty of quick and easy American recipes, which I sometimes prefer. I really love cooking, but oftentimes I simply don’t have time to make time-consuming dishes. In those cases, I turn to quick and easy recipes.

I’ve found that canned chicken is a real time saver, so I always try to keep it on hand. In case you’re not familiar with canned chicken, it’s chunks of cooked chicken in a can. You can get it in all white meat or mixed white and dark meat. Whenever this stuff goes on sale, I load up on it!

The canned chicken is very versatile and can be used in all sorts of quick and easy recipes. I use it to make chicken salad, chicken-noodle soup, chicken-vegetable soup, chicken and rice, chicken tacos, chicken quesadillas, chicken burritos, and chicken casseroles. Sometimes I mix it with boxed stuffing for a great chicken and dressing. I also like to drain the meat really well and mix it with barbecue sauce for pulled chicken sandwiches. I’ve even used the canned chicken in chicken and dumplings!
